Why We Started Courage Lab

Our Story:

Like many parents, we trusted that the public education system would provide our daughter with a love of learning, essential skills, and the ability to think critically. While she had wonderful teachers and made great friends, we noticed she was moving through concepts at the school's predetermined pace, not her own. This led to challenges in mastering certain skills and diminished her confidence. We realized the traditional system wasn't built for individualized learning and began exploring alternatives.

Our Vision:

Discovering mastery-based, self-paced learning resonated deeply with us. We envisioned a school where children truly understand concepts before moving forward, building confidence, resilience, a solid foundation in Biblical values and a lifelong love of learning. Reflecting on our own educational experiences, we recognized the value of an environment that embraces failure as a part of the learning process, fostering resilience and confidence.

Founding Courage Lab Academy:

Unable to find a local school embracing all of these specific principles, we made the bold decision to create Courage Lab Academy. Our school prioritizes self-paced, mastery-based learning, Socratic discussions, and embraces failure as part of the learning process. We aim to build a community where students are challenged, supported, and empowered to take ownership of their learning.
